Das neue Schüller-Album bietet 9 Songs zwischen Roots Rock Atmosphäre a la Ryan Adams, Post Punk Attitude a la Die Nerven und künstlerischem Freigeist a la Radiohead. Im Mittelpunkt steht nach wie vor handmade Songwriting: die folky Acoustic-Guitar, die twangy Telecaster, der Gesang. WWS ist das bislang rockigste und aggressivste Album Schüllers, durchzogen von einer dunklen Note a la Velvet Underground.
Die Texte sind melancholisch, ironisch und geprägt von einem lakonisch-schwarzem Humor. Die zwei-wörterigen englischen Titel der Songs können schon mal in die Irre führen. Die Lyrics sind deutschsprachig. Nur der Titelsong ´Wodka Wodka Superstar` fällt aus dem Rahmen, beeinflusst durch das Buch GRM Brainfuck von Sibylle Berg.
Der Titelsong ´Wodka Wodka Superstar´ behauptet: ´Die Beatles hat doch keiner gewollt `. Der Opener ´Hussy Hicks` weiß: ´Las Vegas war einmal ein Wasserloch, aus dem ein Pferd genüsslich soff `. Das Leben Ed Zeppelins wird erzählt und vieles mehr. Zum Ende gibt es im zehnminütigen Epos ´Dear Wolf `den sehr persönlichen Reisebericht eines Route 66-Road-Trips.
Wodka Wodka Superstar ist das Album der Gegenpole: hier reiben sich Abgründe und Hoffnung, Zärtlichkeit und Bedrohung, Pessimismus und Optimismus.
